Valedictorian, by Guy Lodge, is about 4 sisters, just like my family. The oldest sister is in High School and she got to be valedictorian. Her sisters didn’t know what that meant, and I didn’t either. The book explains that a valedictorian is the person who gets the highest grades in the whole school.
When the big sister was a valedictorian, it made the little sisters in the book want to be a valedictorian too. One of the younger sisters who is just a little bit younger than the bigger sister thought she could do it. She started focusing in school and trying to get good grades so she could also be a valedictorian!
The story was about believing in yourself and achieving your goals. Trying to get A’s or B+’s on all of your work. If you believe it, you can achieve it, and you can become a valedictorian or a salutatorian.
Valedictorian is Helpful
I have had some trouble with math in school, and I didn’t think I would be able to pass the class. I didn’t think I was going to be able to achieve my goals that I worked on all year. There were a couple things I was doing that I wasn’t supposed to, like talking in class. Part of me just thought it didn’t matter and I can just talk, but I knew it was wrong.
This year, I tried something new. I have to actually believe that I can do it, and now I think that I’m going to be able to get good grades. I think if I just keep working on it, I can get a good grade. As long as I try, pay attention, focus, work hard, try not to talk, all that stuff… I think that I can achieve it!
I think most of the kids around the world will really like this book. It could inspire the whole world to want to become a valedictorian. I think the story would be really good for kids that might be struggling in school. It might inspire everyone to work a little harder and try to be a valedictorian.
Now that I know what a valedictorian is, I think I could be become a valedictorian someday. Reading the book will help me keep working hard towards getting good grades. If I was a valedictorian and my sisters saw me, I think I could help my sisters become a valedictorian too. I think that would be very nice to have your family being proud of you. I will also remember that even if I don’t become a valedictorian I will always be perfect and awesome just being myself.
Valedictorian and My Sisters
I read the story to my 3 Sisters (6 years old, 4 years old, and 2 years old). Surprisingly, they actually sat down and listen to the story very nicely. They put their hands in their laps and looked at the pictures when I was reading it. They were being great listeners, and I bet that the book inspired them to try and become a valedictorian too. I think they really liked it.
Valedictorian Tee-Shirts
I think the shirts are great, too. When I wear it to school the teachers might think, “wow, this person really wants to get good grades!” Maybe if I stop paying attention and am wearing the shirt, she might try and help me get those good grades because she probably will know how much I want to be a valedictorian. I also liked that the words on the shirt were shiny when my mom took pictures with the flash.
The Author: Guy Lodge
One day I got to meet the author, Guy, and his wife. They actually live in Phoenix, Arizona near where we live, which is cool. He also autographed our book when I met him, and wrote a little message to me and my sisters. It was special to me that he wrote a message in our book, and then I got to meet him. It’s like knowing a famous person who wrote a really good book, that I think could inspire the world!
